Jay Sears - Commercial Real Estate Development

Jay Sears is a managing partner and cofounder of NewQuest, a company focused on commercial real estate development and services. Jay K. Sears has spent more than 40 years in the commercial real estate industry. His responsibilities include leading acquisitions, development, and repositioning while overseeing asset management strategy, leasing performance, and financial outcomes across the firm's portfolio. Jay Sears also oversees project teams involved in development, leasing, design, and construction while maintaining relationships with investors, tenants, and municipal partners.

Mr. Sears’s achievements include the creation of more than 160 retail and mixed-use developments throughout Texas and other parts of the nation. Before NewQuest, he founded Sears Realty Company in 1996. The firm developed, managed, and leased shopping centers across the greater Houston area and completed transactions involving Albertsons, Walgreens, H E B, Kroger, and Petco. Jay K. Sears received the 2023 REDnews Real Estate Icon award.

Mr. Sears holds a bachelor of business administration from Baylor University, where he focused his business studies on real estate. He also serves on the board of the West Houston Association and participates in organizations including the International Council of Shopping Centers, Urban Land Institute, and Rice Design Alliance.
